Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Application
Thank you for your interest in applying to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. Our diverse group of residents works directly with department faculty to provide high-quality care in obstetrics and gynecology and its subspecialties to a socioeconomically diverse group of patients, creating a rich and varied training environment. We select our residents for their energy, enthusiasm and diligence, as well as for their dedication to providing unparalleled patient care and their commitment to community medicine.<x/p>
You can review information regarding compensation and benefits through the Graduate Medical Education section of this website.
Application Process
All applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We do not accept paper applications or pre-match. We accept applications from candidates wishing to complete the full four-year Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency.
ERAS applications are due in our office by October 1.
In addition to accepting applications submitted through ERAS, completion of the Casper Suite is a required part of the application process.
Casper Suite is a three-component set of selection tools designed to assess and understand an applicant's communication skills; non-cognitive skills such as collaboration, teamwork, empathy, ethics and professionalism; as well as alignment with our program. Casper Suite consists of an online assessment of professionalism (situational judgment evaluation), a video response to three standard questions and an inquiry into priorities. These tools provide applicants the opportunity to showcase their strengths and individuality and complement their ERAS application. Please register before September 11. Learn more about Casper & Duet Suite.
The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) is using these expanded measures for application screening based on our interest in recruitment of physicians with a broad range of skills, our commitment to diversity and our awareness that the upcoming application cycle has eliminated many of the ways we would typically get to know applicants beyond their grades and test scores. These measures also help us make fair decisions based on applicants’ personal and professional attributes, and not rely heavily on cognitive metrics alone.
Application Timeline
In accordance with the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO), TBHC has adopted the additional recommendations listed below:
- Applications are due October 1, 2023

- In lieu of USMLE scores, COMLEX 1 and 2 are also acceptable
- At least three letters of recommendation from faculty familiar with your performance
