Spiritual Care
Spiritual Care is available to patients, family and friends, and staff of every faith as well as individuals with no faith beliefs or traditions. Our board-certified multifaith chaplains have graduate degrees and at least 1,600 hours of supervised clinical training. They will listen. They will respect your personal beliefs and your ability to draw on these beliefs in response to your illness and recovery. The Spiritual Care Department can help you in many ways:
10 reasons to call a multifaith chaplain
A chaplain can help if the patient or patient’s loved one:
- Is having a difficult time coping with the stress of illness and hospitalization.
- Is discouraged, anxious, afraid or sad.
- Needs help coping with a difficult diagnosis or prognosis.
- Has a specific religious need or question.
- Is dealing with end-of-life issues and needs a companion for the journey.
- Has few or no visitors and is spending day after day alone.
- Wants to talk to someone who has time to listen.
- Needs emotional and bereavement support during a time of grief and loss.
- Requires help sorting out a difficult ethical problem.
- Has a question about or needs support appointing a Health Care Proxy or completing an Advance Directive.
The Patrick F. Adams Family Multi-Faith Chapel
An interfaith meditation chapel is located on the second floor of the main hospital and is open to all visitors and staff at all times. An atmosphere of peace is always maintained. Family and staff are welcome to visit at any time.
Additionally, the following scheduled services are held there:
- Mondays, 8 to 8:20 am: Spiritual refueling for the week.
- Wednesdays, 12:30 to 1:30 pm: Non-Denominational Christian prayer service
- Thursdays, 2 to 3 pm and 6 to 7 pm: A chaplain is available for one-on-one spiritual care and conversation. Call to schedule an appointment.
- Friday, 1:30 to 2:30 pm: Muslim Jummah Prayer
- First Friday of every month, 3 pm: Catholic Mass
