Schedules & Vacation
The night float team covers Sunday through Friday nights. First- and second-year residents have three blocks of night float, PGY-3 residents have two blocks and PGY-4 residents have one block of night float per year. During the night float rotation, residents manage obstetric patients, emergency room consultations and emergency gynecologic procedures. Our program complies with NYS-405 regulations, as well as the ACGME duty hours rule. Adherence to duty hours and resident support is accomplished with the assistance of physician assistants and midwives, as well as the night float system.
Residents are given four weeks of vacation and five personal days per year. Residents are assigned vacations one week at a time, distributed over a 12-month period. Conference time is allotted for the PGY-4 residents to attend a general review course in preparation for the qualifying examination in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
