Leading Spine Surgeon at The Brooklyn Hospital Center First to Perform New Spinal Fusion Procedure
Anders Cohen, DO, Chief of Neurosurgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC), performed the first spinal fusion surgery using a cutting-edge device called KG 2TM SurgeTM from Kleiner Device Labs. Using this new device, Dr. Cohen was able to perform a bone graft that delivered more than three times the volume of the void of the collapsed disk space.

TBHC Improves Patient Safety Score Amidst Pandemic Challenges, Earns Second Highest Grade in Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) was the only hospital in the borough to raise its patient safety grade from Fall 2021 to Spring 2022, despite the complications caused by COVID-19 and the latest surge in cases. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade awarded Brooklyn’s only “B” to TBHC, making it the second highest patient safety score in the borough.

Sheila Anane, Senior Director of Ambulatory Care Honored by United Hospital Fund
The United Hospital Fund honored The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s (TBHC) Senior Director of Ambulatory Quality and Services, Sheila Anane, as a Quality Improvement Champion in their “2022 Tribute to Excellence in Health Care.” Ms. Anane was recognized as an exemplary leader and someone who improves quality of care, patient safety and the patient experience.

TBHC Awarded $9.2 Million for Emergency Department
On March 27, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries appeared at a press conference with Gary G. Terrinoni, President and CEO of The Brooklyn Hospital Center, in front of TBHC’s new Emergency Department. At the conference, all four announced that TBHC has been awarded $9.2 million for its Emergency Department renovation, facility improvements and equipment needs, as part of a Congressional Directed Spending request.
