Anticoagulation Clinic
The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s Anticoagulation Clinic provides expert care in the supervision and monitoring of the medication warfarin, also known as Coumadin. Coumadin is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) used to help prevent blood clots in patients who have mechanical heart valves or conditions such as atrial fibrillation, deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism. Serious bleeding complications can occur while taking anticoagulant medication. Careful monitoring is necessary in order to provide safe and effective treatment.
The clinic is staffed by an experienced team of pharmacists trained in anticoagulation care. We provide guidance and education for patients on both long- and short-term therapy.
