About Brian Francis Gilchrist, MD, FACS
Dr. Gilchrist is a graduate of Tufts Medical School and did his surgery training at Harvard University and Brown University. He has published extensively on a broad range of neonatal and pediatric surgical topics. He has lectured nationally and internationally and led the American Pediatric Surgery Association Pediatric Trauma program in Puerto Rico in 2009.
Dr. Gilchrist has been a very active clinical surgeon in the Bronx and for NYU over the past five years, in which he performed more than 700 cases per year. He has won teacher of the year awards from both medical students and residents on many occasions. His book on necrotizing enterocolitis is found in many Neonatal Intensive Care Units throughout the USA. Dr. Gilchrist is board-certified in both surgery and pediatric surgery.
His belief is that pediatric surgery is a calling and that children are always victims of their diseases.
