TBHC Awarded $9.2 Million for Emergency Department

On March 27, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries appeared at a press conference with Gary G. Terrinoni, President and CEO of The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC), in front of TBHC’s new Emergency Department. At the conference, all four announced that TBHC has been awarded $9.2 million for its Emergency Department renovation, facility improvements and equipment needs, as part of a Congressional Directed Spending request. This request was passed as part of the Fiscal Year 2022 Omnibus Appropriations package. The award is the largest in the State of New York for any healthcare facility.

“This award would not have been possible without the support of these elected officials. We will be forever grateful for their efforts,” said Mr. Terrinoni. “The Brooklyn Hospital Center was here for the 1918 pandemic and we were here for the 2020 Covid surge and beyond. We intend to be here another 175 years, because our diverse, thriving, complicated and lovely community needs us and will continue to need us. This award makes that all the more possible as we continue the fight for equality in healthcare.”
