An ‘A’ for Social Responsibility

This July, The Brooklyn Hospital Center received an “A” grade for social responsibility from the Lown Institute, a Massachusetts healthcare think tank. TBHC was the only Brooklyn hospital to receive this grade and only one of 39 hospitals in all of New York State.

What is notable about this grade is that it is measured according to 50 different metrics including equity, value and outcomes, community benefits, inclusivity, cost efficiency, clinical outcomes, and patient safety and satisfaction. The necessary information in obtaining this grade was not provided by TBHC but rather gathered from public sources.

“I thank all the physicians and staff who contributed to this and other latest achievements, such as the US News & World Report Best Regional Hospital ranking. These achievements clearly represent a seismic shift in the history of The Brooklyn Hospital Center. We intend to keep up and improve upon the good work we have accomplished for our patients and our community,” says Gary G. Terrinoni, President & CEO.
