The Brooklyn Hospital Center Meets Full FDA Requirements for Mammography

TBHC achieves the American College of Radiology gold seal

The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC), a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, has recently earned full accreditation of its mammography facility from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). TBHC has met all the requirements under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) of 1992, including all voluntary programs and modules in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and breast MRI.

“This determination was made based on a two-day inspection conducted by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene,” says Irina Rondel, MD, TBHC’s Division Chief of Breast Imaging.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has provided TBHC with full accreditation, exemplified by a certificate with the gold seal, to highlight its success as a team. By displaying the gold seal of ACR Accreditation, TBHC can demonstrate to its patients, payers and referring physicians that it is committed to providing the safest and best quality care possible.

“We are a safe, quality local source for breast imaging,” says Dr. Rondel. “There is no need to look further than our Downtown Brooklyn campus for excellent mammography services.”
