The Brooklyn Hospital Center, 88th Precinct Community & Youth Council’s 36th Annual National Night Out

Building a Police-Community Partnership and Neighborhood Camaraderie

The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) will be joining the New York Police Department’s 88^th Precinct Community & Youth Council’s 36^th Annual National Night Out Against Crime, which benefits Fort Greene/Clinton Hill on Tuesday, August 6, from 12 noon to 4 pm. The event goes on until 7 pm.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that brings the neighboring community, police and TBHC together to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. This event fosters a sense of safety, inclusion and community between neighbors, local law enforcement and government.

“I am delighted that TBHC is partnering with our next-door neighbor, Fort Greene Park, as well as the 88^th Precinct. Through our mutual support, we strengthen our community,” says Gary G. Terrinoni, TBHC’s President & CEO. “Together we truly are Keeping Brooklyn Healthy.”

TBHC will provide free health information and screenings such as a blood pressure screening among other services. Departments providing outreach include the PATH (HIV/AIDS) Center, WIC, and the Weight Loss Center. The goal is to promote the hospital’s services, network with the community, and build a healthier, safer community for all. Other activities from other participants will include barbecue, bounce houses, face painting, food and fun. 

Since 1984, National Night Out has been an opportunity to celebrate neighborhoods for thousands of communities from all 50 states, US territories and military bases worldwide. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events such as safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events and much more. TBHC and the 88^th Precinct Community & Youth Council hope to build positive relationships and trust in this growing police-community-neighborhood partnership.
