Goals of the Research Program
- Train the residents with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop themselves toward either academic surgeons or solid clinicians with clinical research capabilities
- Improve the research efforts of the department
Research Activities of the Program
- Leadership/mentorship for research group
- Approval of research projects with the IRB
- Discussion on the progress of the projects
- Presentation of research projects by the residents
- Departmental annual research day
- Institution resident research day
Research Requirements for the Residents
Each categorical resident is required to complete two research projects prior to graduation:
- A journal publication
- A presentation at a local, regional, national or international meeting
Residents who are invited to present will have all expenses paid by the GME fund.
